This is a follow on to a couple of recent blogs.

Everything Changes But (A4)U! by One Little Duck

Change – Good or Bad? by Existem

Jesus was tempted to change three times … Once to change rocks into bread … Another to change from worshipping god to worship the devil instead … and the third to throw himself off the top of the temple … These temptations to change was designed by the devil to take Jesus’ mind off the course set by the Father. All temptations were to cause Jesus to lose focus.

We can all paraphrase & manipulate the wording within or reference to scriptures and parables and quotes to present our opinions & points of understanding.

hmmm Claire’s post would seem to be a case of justification for change by cliched quotes without even touching on how we can influence any of the changes.

The fact is the majority of the changes currently happening in real terms are negative and leave most of us worse off and unless challenged will affect each and every one of us on a more personal level as time moves forward..

YES change is inevitable BUT we can influence HOW that change affects us and just what degree of change takes place.

The thing about change is that if enough of something happens or it happens enough times, then it becomes seen as the norm.. now imagine if Dixons slid the 0% feed products in unchallenged, Other merchants would have followed suit, slowly at first then before long they’d all be trying it on, this may then have made it viable for other negative changes to happen affecting more of us still.

We are one of the most cost effective sales channels out there yet are under constant danger of rolling over and being taken advantage of, it’s about time affiiates realised their value and held out for it.

We DO have a say in this relationship and it’s about time some people found a voice, spoke up and stopped taking whatever was offered or was stuck to them or otherwise there will be point whining about how good things USED to be it’ll be too late to go back there.

Some people are so pliable and prone to give the merchants, networks and agencies a tongue bath it’s a joke, many are like giddy labradors just wagging their tails and waiting for the ball to be thrown again, they seem to forget it’s our industry .. it’s powered from the ground up so why don’t WE instigate change for once instead of being just reactionary to it.

Next time you are offered terms which are worse than you currently get or are told to do something different.. think is this really a change I want to happen.. if not turn it down.. contact another merchant or network and ask for better terms.. .. yes change is coming but we can influence how it affects us and how fast it comes !

“it’s powered from the ground up so why don’t WE instigate change for once instead of being just reactionary to it.” could not agree more, I guess that’s what Claire’s short blog attempted to do and that’s get people thinking about (I say it worked) change and help direct that change in a way that benefits affiliates.
