Lack of Decorum … How About Congratulating Incentive Winners?

It’s sometimes disappointing to see there is lack of decorum being displayed on the forum by fellow affiliates & peers who don’t congratulate those affiliates who win incentives which are generously provided by merchants & networks.

Is it because they didn’t win? Spoilsports? Or simply too lazy though there maybe good intent? or Lack of manners? I still wish incentives were highlighted more, some do pass by without actually realising they were there in the first place.

Most (not all) merchants deserve recognition for running these and any additional public recognition & incremental sales that are generated should hopefully be the fruits of the reward by their generousity, so that we may potentially see more generous incentives being run (without expecting or taking for granted).

So next time an affiliate wins an incentive, take a brief moment of your time & post a couple of words of congratulations on the forum to the winner & maybe even a thank you to the merchant (even if you didn’t win), sometimes being nice gives you a warm & fuzzy feeling inside. You never know, we might see more incentives because of it.

So in one fair swoop for those I have in the past inadvertently omitted, congratulations & thank you to those merchants too, though if you can please use a megaphone so more affiliates can take advantage of your generosity.

Paul, I couldn’t agree more, we should applaud incentives from merchants whenever we see them. Especially the super duper ones where merchants have really pushed the boat out.

However I would also say it is a lack of decorum to hijack threads like this one http://www.affiliates4u.com/forums/buy/78761-sky-what-fantastic-programme.html where Buy.at were promoting the current Sky incentive to win a VIP trip to Silverstone. Whatever your thought’s and opinions about BBG’s (and you have every right to them) I don’t think hijacking a thread promoting a fantastic incentive is the correct place to air them.

Well done on a great post.

    Valid point though.

And hijacking affiliate commissions and not disclosing existence of BBGs on program details page is okay is it? Affiliates have the right to know and I question the motives when the keyword coverage from their BBG’s .. from mine & others opinions was NOT good enough either on brand or generics. They haven’t even introduced non cookie overwriting?

I think we have considerably different priorities on what is “right & wrong” and what is “acceptable & not acceptable” in the industry, don’t worry, myself and Matt had an unfortunate good old fashioned, testosterone fueled ding dong with handbags at dawn on MSN about it. So let’s leave the good stuff to the blogs & turn the forum into just a good news bible, which would be extremely unfortunate if it transcends to that, because i am concerned that the forum I admire so much might descend from being what used to be the epicenter of affiliate discussion, debate & intrigue … with passion & varied opinion to match … to just repeats of my email inbox.

At least Buy.at & Sky will probably be satisfied you are fighting their corner.
